Last Saturday saw over 150 school children come together out at Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH), Karawaci for a fantastic day of Rugby fun. Children aged 14 and under from the Jakarta Komodos Junior Rugby (JKJR) Club enjoyed a couple training sessions while those children aged 15 and over participated in Under 15s Boys and Under 18s Boys and Girls competitions. Indonesian Rugby and all involved in the day were very grateful to the staff and ground staff of SPH for providing such fantastic facilities for this event.
It was great to see the lads from the Darunnajah Lions back in action again and in a boost to the strength of Indonesian Youth Rugby it was great to see all-Indonesian teams like the Lions and SPH Under 18s Teams performing well against the other teams from schools such as JIS and BIS.
The spoils of victory on the day went to the SPH Under 18s Boys and Girls Teams in their respective Cup Finals, the BIS Under 18s in the Plate Final, the Darunnajah Under 18s Team in the Bowl Playoffs and the JKJR Under 15s in the Cup Final. However the real winners on the day were all the children who participated in the various matches plus training sessions. A big thank you goes to all the parents/ teachers who helped out as referees and coaches, plus all the mums and dads who came along to watch their children play and train.
The next round of Jakarta Schools Rugby to be hosted by the JKJR will be played at Jagorawi Sports Club (south of Jakarta, exit from the Jakarta-Bogor Toll Road) on Saturday November 29. All are welcome to attend and support the children.
