IRB Get Into Rugby Kicks Off in Bali

Official IRB Get Into Rugby Launch in Bali today saw 231 (90 males and 141 females) Indonesian school children introduced to Rugby. The session was hosted by Karina Soerjanatamihardja, PRUI National Development Manager, plus Kurt Lovell, Rhys Gondosapoetro and Didikyz ‘Markus’ Ria from Bali Rugby Club.

Indonesian Rugby is very happy with this great initiative by Bali Rugby and the Union welcomes seeing the participation numbers continue to grow on the ‘island of the gods’. Athan Kna posted on Facebook“Congrats Bali Rugby…a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single steps…” and all involved in Indonesian Rugby hope that this small effort by Bali Rugby reaps benefits in the years to come.

The 231 participants brings the total number of GIR participants to 1,081 throughout Indonesia to date and what is really encouraging about these numbers of the fact that there have been 695 female participants, which is a really encouraging sign for Women’s Rugby development in Indonesia.

This weekend sees the annual Bali Rugby Fest being played at Lapangan Yoga Perkanthi, Jimbaran. All spectators are most welcome to attend.
