Second IRB Scalp for Rhinos

Second IRB Scalp for Rhinos

Yesterday the Indonesian National Rugby Team, also known as the Rhinos secured their second win over an IRB Member Nation namely China, having previously defeated Pakistan in 2011 and 2012. Indonesia has been an Associate Member of the IRB since May 2008 and the Union is currently moving forwards to secure IRB Member status in the near future.

The win against China was also the Rhinos’ 10th win from 18 Tests, since playing its first match against Cambodia in Phnom Penh on June 27, 2006. Since that match the Rhinos have beaten Cambodia (twice), Lao (three times), Brunei (twice), Pakistan (twice) and now China.

Jarrad Gallagher, IRB Development Officer for Asia, commented to Steve Barber, former Indonesian Rugby Chairman and a Co-Founder of the Union, that the IRB was happy with the progress that Indonesian Rugby has made and that the IRB has also noted the Rhinos second win over an IRB Member Nation as being a significant achievement.
