The “2015 Crown Jakarta Komodos 10’s Tournament” is on once again tomorrow out at the Jagorawi Golf & Country Club, located south of Jakarta. This year’s tournament features 12 Open men’s teams fighting it out for the Cup, as well as 3 Vets (over 35’s) teams and 2 women’s teams all out for a good time on the Rugby pitch.
In the Open men’s tournament there are three teams visiting from Malaysia including tournament favourites the KK Sharks, along with 9 Indonesian based teams, including the tournament hosts, the Jakarta Komodos.
There will be an hour of Junior Rugby from 12:30-1:30pm so that the youngsters from the Jakarta Komodos Junior Rugby can show off there Rugby skills.
Indonesian Rugby is very supportive of the Jakarta Komodos Rugby Club in hosting this tournament and is very welcoming of the debut of the Jakarta Dino’s Vets (over 35’s) Team. The Vets pride themselves on 4 V’s – Voltaren, Vodka, Viagra and Ventolin – and look set to be a crowd favourite when they hit the pitch running…. that will be about the only running they will do before reverting to the act of walking. Indonesian Rugby old boys such as Bob King, Warren Wilcox, John Noldi, Seb Sharp, Steve Nye and others are tonight rubbing in the voltaren in anticipation of getting creaking joints lubricated before tomorrow morning. The Vets are also a sure bet to be a major challenge in the boat races later in the day.
The Jakarta Komodos Junior Rugby girls made up mainly of girls from the Mama Sayang Orphanage and the ladies from Bandung United will also be in action.
So do yourself a favour and get out to Jagorawi tomorrow for some great Rugby fun. There will be plenty of food and beverages plus a bouncing castle for the kids if the organisers can convince the Vets to let the little lads and lasses to have a go.
