In what has been the most tightly contested ‘Fez by Aphrodite West Indonesia XV’s Series’ in the eight-year history of the tournament there are three team buying the Division 1 title this year in a closely fought battle between the Jakarta Bantengs, Bandung United Rugby Club and the Jakarta Komodos.

Last Saturday’s match between the Jakarta Komodos was a see-saw battle for the first fifty minutes of the match after the Komodos got away to a flyer leading 24-0 before Bandung let loose and clawed their way back to 24-22. Forward power and discipline saw the Komodos dominate the remainder of the match and come away 48-22 winners.

In the other match of the day, the veteran Jakarta Japan Rugby Gila (JJRG) Team showed their younger counterparts (pictured) from the Jakarta Bantengs that they were not going to have the run of the day and at one stage of the game were only trailing 25-26, before the Bantengs ran away 50-25 winners.

Meanwhile in Division 2, UNJ scored a walkover win as the Bogor Rusa team failed to show up on the day. UNJ comfortably lead Division 2.

The final round of the pool matches takes place on Saturday April 18 and the schedule is as follows:

12:15pm Bogor v Bandung Rams
2:00pm Bandung United v Jakarta Banteng
3:45pm JJRG v Jakarta Komodos

The Semi-Finals are scheduled for Saturday April 25 and the Finals on Saturday May 16. Many thanks to Fez by Aphrodite for sponsoring this tournament.
