It was enough for Rugby Bali to gain another new momentum, as Asia Rugby GIR Coordinator, Ben Van Rooyen’s holiday visit to Bali helped re-fueling the spirits of all staffs and volunteers to spread the game we all love.

Nur Faizah, the chief officer of Rugby Bali, explained that after some progress made to the Bali Lotus Project 2020, which was started in November last year, some feedbacks and adjustment to the model that we use in Bali are just timely.

“We have a great time evaluating what we have been doing in the past six to seven months, and Ben’s presence was just perfect to do give inputs to all the staffs on our effort to popularise the oval ball”, she explained.

The week was even better, as Ben was shown around on the development of Rugby in Bali, with Tegallalang Satria RC visit as the memorable point to remember, Rhys Gondosapoetro, Rugby Bali’s treasurer, pointed out.

“It was epic when we saw kids who were back from traditional gamelan training, and offered them to joined the older ones in training. We know they are not really familiar with rugby, but after 90 minutes of training with Dharma and Wira, they played full tag rugby match against each other!” he explained.

Rhys also appreciates Ben’s time off his holiday week to look into the program that Rugby Bali has laid out.

“The boys and girls are refreshed, and with Ben’s sacrifice off his holiday time to go down and see grassroots’ rugby in the villages touched our heart. We hope to welcome him again in Bali, and we are happy to see such a nice gesture from him” he concluded.
